Santo Domingo.- Given the concerns regarding a possible increase in the prices of basic food basket products, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, assured that the Government is developing a plan based on three fundamental pillars to protect the population’s purchasing power.
During statements offered to the press prior to the presentation of the 2026 National Quality Award, the official explained that the strategy contemplates the implementation of millionaire subsidies aimed at cushioning and counteracting the effects of price hikes in international markets, especially in fuels and raw materials that affect production and distribution costs.
Sanz Lovatón highlighted that the authorities maintain constant monitoring of oil price behavior in international markets, due to its direct impact on the local economy.
