Héctor Valdez Albizu highlights Banreservas’ financial strength and leadership

Santo Domingo.– The governor of the Central Bank, Héctor Valdez Albizu, highlighted the financial strength exhibited by the Banco de Reservas, during a meeting held with the Superintendent of Banks, Alejandro Fernández, in which the main results of the national financial system were presented. Valdez Albizu reported that Banco de Reservas maintains a relevant position in terms of liquidity, by concentrating approximately RD$45 billion of the overnight deposits that financial institutions hold at the Central Bank, which represents 46% of the total of more than RD$96 billion. This level of liquidity, he noted, demonstrates the bank’s ability to comfortably meet its financial commitments. In his report, the official highlighted that Banreservas shows healthy growth in its assets, with a balance of RD$1.35 trillion, for a year-on-year increase of 7.4%. Likewise, he highlighted the quality of its loan portfolio, which amounts to RD$617 billion, with a growth of 9.4%, as well as its investments in securities for RD$415 billion, which reflect an increase of 8.4%.

Valdez Albizu also highlighted the low-risk levels shown by the entity, by registering a delinquency rate of 1.3% and a coverage ratio of past-due loans of 192.7%, indicators that reflect a healthy portfolio and prudent credit risk management. The Governor of the Central Bank valued these results as a demonstration of Banreservas’ institutional strength and its role as one of the main pillars of the Dominican financial system, with the capacity to continue supporting credit and the development of the country’s productive sectors.
