Hipólito Mejía calls for changes to the Government Train: “I want changes, not transfers”
Higüey. – Former President of the Republic, Hipólito Mejía, called on the government of President Luis Abinader to make real changes in the Governmental Train, and not simple transfers of officials, considering that some areas require firm decisions to improve public management.
“I want changes, not transfers,” Mejía emphasized, while opening the possibility that the president could feel “betrayed or deceived” by some of his officials. “Anything is possible. I would fire any official at the drop of a hat,” he said, recalling his direct style at the head of the State.
The former president also referred to President Abinader’s silence and the suspension of the weekly meeting with the press LA Semanal, which has not been held since December 8th. When questioned about this issue, Mejía responded with a critical tone: “What do I know, a man from Gurabo what will he know about LA Semanal,” he commented.
