Santo Domingo.– “I just want to see my son again.” With those words, Elizabeth Escobosa reported this Wednesday that she has been unable to reunite with her 10-year-old son for more than two years, despite the fact that, as she stated, the authorities are aware of the case and there is a court order mandating the handover of the minor.
Escobosa explained that, during the pandemic, she temporarily left her son in the care of Benita Falcón, a person she trusted, due to a family situation that prevented her from caring for him together with the child’s father. However, she stated that a court subsequently revoked that guardianship and ordered the minor to be handed over to his father, who obtained legal custody.
However, Escobosa maintained that the decision was never complied with.
“The judge ordered that my child be returned, but she left and since then we don’t know where he is. She never handed him over,” she expressed.
The mother reported that on January 19, 2026, the woman was supposed to appear before the Children and Adolescents jurisdiction to carry out the handover of the minor, but she did not appear.

Since then, he/she said he/she has gone on multiple occasions to the Office of the Prosecutor for Children and Adolescents, the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office against Trafficking in Persons, the National Police, and other State institutions, where, as he/she stated, they are aware of the file and the decisions issued by the courts.
The woman stated that, together with the minor’s father, she has gone to different institutions in search of help, but affirmed that she has only been referred from one entity to another without obtaining a concrete answer regarding her son’s whereabouts.

“They have me running from one place to another looking for my child. I go to one institution and they send me to another. The authorities know about my case and I still haven’t found my son,” she stated.

Escobosa also reported that relatives of Benita Falcón have allegedly threatened her and even requested money from her in exchange for returning the minor.
“They told me I had to pay to get my son back. I told them I would get the money because the only thing I want is to see him again,” she stated.
Likewise, he expressed his concern about the conditions in which the child might be found.
“I don’t know if he is okay, if he is studying, if he is sick, or where he is. It has been more than two years since I last heard from him. The only thing I ask is that you help me get him back,” she said through tears.
The woman made an appeal to the President of the Republic, the Attorney General’s Office, the National Police, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the National Council for Children and Adolescents (Conani) to execute the judicial decision and expedite the actions that would allow for the minor to be located.
According to the complainant, Maicol Altagracia was seven years old when he was last seen by his family and is currently 10 years old. Elizabeth Escobosa stated that she will continue to exhaust all legal avenues until she manages to reunite with her son.
