Santo Domingo.- Dominican merengue artist Manny Cruz celebrated a decade of musical career this Thursday with the release of his new single, “Nieve en Verano” (Snow in Summer), alongside the maestro Juan Luis Guerra. During the presentation, the artist stated that he is a living example that, with faith, perseverance, and hard work, there are no impossible dreams.
“I am the living example, and I say this with all the humility in the world, that if you hold onto God’s hand, have faith, and work hard, nothing, nothing is impossible in life,” expressed Manny, visibly moved, during the premiere of his new single and the celebration of his ten-year musical career.
Manny thanked merengue and recalled that for as long as he can remember, he dreamed of making tropical music, always with an inclination toward the native music of all Dominicans.
The artist detailed that the new single began recording on April 10, 2022; however, he decided to wait until 2025 to work on the project and later release it in September of 2026.
“It was a wonderful wait, honestly the whole team of his, Amarilis, Juan Luis have behaved in a wonderful way with me, my brother Daniel Santacruz also contributed greatly to the lyrics of the song,” the singer-songwriter indicated.
About the song “Nieve en Verano”
Manny added that, in “Snow in Summer” it is a love that transforms life and makes what seemed improbable possible. Snow in the middle of summer is the image that gives its name to that certainty: love is received as a blessing and is celebrated with gratitude and dance.
For Manny, that message also speaks to his own journey. This song represents God’s promise in his project, the conviction that nothing is impossible for Him and that everything comes to those who wait.
With a composition by Manny Cruz, Motiff, Efraín N. González, and Daniel Santacruz, musical production and arrangements by Janina Rosado and Motiff, as well as distribution by La Oreja Media Group, “Nieve en verano” is the union of two generations of merengue; furthermore, it features a music video starring the talented and multifaceted Francisca, directed by Jean Guerra, and includes a special appearance by former Major League Baseball player and Cooperstown Hall of Famer, David Ortiz, “El Big Papi.” The single and music video are available on all digital platforms.
