INDOMET maintains alerts for rain; downpours will continue due to the impact of a cold front and trough
Santo Domingo. — The INDOMET reported that showers persist in a large part of the country due to the incidence of a cold front and a trough, conditions that will continue to generate moderate to heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts.
According to the weather report, rainfall has affected provinces such as Puerto Plata, Santiago, La Vega, Samaná, La Altagracia, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís and Gran Santo Domingo, among other locations in the north, northeast, southeast and the Central mountain range.
The agency indicated that these conditions will persist throughout the rest of the afternoon and early hours of the night of this Saturday. However, for Sunday, a significant decrease in rainfall is expected, as the front system and the trough move away from the national territory, although isolated showers could be recorded in mountainous areas.
Regarding maritime conditions, authorities recommended that operators of fragile, small, and medium-sized vessels on the Atlantic coast navigate with caution and avoid going out to sea due to abnormal wind and waves.

For Monday, a more stable outlook is expected, with mostly sunny skies and weak and passing showers in some areas of the east and northeast of the country.
