INTRANT announces 5Km race in the National Sustainable Mobility Week 2025

Santo Domingo. – The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) announced the holding of the “First 5k Race for Sustainable Mobility”, which is part of the 8th edition of the National Sustainable Mobility Week 2025, to be held next Sunday, September 28th. As part of World Car-Free Day, this activity is an invitation to citizens to experience the city differently: without motorized vehicles, with a safe and healthy environment, and with public space open for collective recreation. The activity will take place on Winston Churchill Avenue, which will be transformed into an urban lung free of vehicular traffic. Participants will be able to walk, jog, or run a five-kilometer route that will cover from Heriberto Núñez street to Paseo de los Locutores street, with incidents in sections of Abraham Lincoln Avenue, Roberto Pastoriza Avenue, and Max Henríquez Ureña street. The event will take place from 6:00 a.m. and will have the support of the security agencies. Likewise, various public institutions and social organizations will join the day to accompany the runners and promote sustainable mobility as a citizen commitment.

AGENDA:

On Tuesday, September 23rd with the Mobility Forum in Santo Domingo.

On Thursday, September 25th, the conference “International Experiences of Sustainable Urban Mobility” will take place, with the participation of local authorities, diplomats, and international experts. On Friday, September 26th, the Mobility Forum will be held with the Mayor’s Office of Santiago. While in Santo Domingo, the Second meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee for the Traffic Management Project will be held, within the framework of cooperation with JICA. That same day, the Moviclaje initiative will begin, starting at 7:00 a.m. at the INFOTEP headquarters, which will allow plastic bottles to be exchanged for public transport cards.

Finally, on Monday, September 29th at 9:00 a.m., the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Sustainable Urban Mobility Program in the Dominican Republic (PMUS-RD) will take place, marking the beginning of the second phase of the joint cooperation between the European Union and France for the modernization of public transport in Santo Domingo and Santiago.
