The award recognizes business initiatives that strengthen road safety, while the INTRANT
promotes regulations to encourage workplace road safety plans in companies.
Santo Domingo. – The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT) recognized 13 companies this Thursday with the National Road Safety Award, for the implementation of good practices that contribute to preventing traffic accidents, protecting lives, and strengthening a culture of safe mobility in the Dominican Republic.
The first edition of the award brought together national authorities, representatives of the business sector, and international organizations, with the purpose of highlighting successful experiences that serve as a benchmark for other organizations and promoting the incorporation of policies for prevention, innovation, and responsible road safety management.
During the ceremony, the executive director of INTRANT, Milton Morrison, highlighted that road safety constitutes a shared responsibility and valued the commitment of the business sector to the implementation of actions that protect lives, reduce risks, and strengthen safer and more sustainable mobility for all Dominicans.

Likewise, he announced that INTRANT is working on the development of a Technical Regulation on Road Safety Labor Plans, currently in the process of consensus and discussion with the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP) and the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD).
He explained that this regulation will promote companies to develop and implement their own road safety work plans, incorporating preventive measures to protect their employees, strengthen the safe management of their operations, and contribute to the reduction of traffic accidents in the country.
The Minister of Labor, Eddy Olivares, highlighted the importance of continuing to promote a culture of
prevention in workplaces, considering that road safety is also part of the well-being
of workers and the country’s sustainable development. Likewise, he urged to continue strengthening the
collaboration between the State and the private sector to promote initiatives that contribute to saving lives.

Representing the business sector, the executive vice president of the Association of Industries of the
Dominican Republic (AIRD), Mario Pujols, reaffirmed the commitment of companies to the
incorporation of good road safety practices, highlighting that innovation, training, and
responsible management are fundamental pillars to consolidate safer mobility and strengthen the

The awards were presented in the categories of Business Management of Road Safety and
Leadership and Contribution to Road Safety Culture, highlighting organizations that have made
road safety a strategic pillar of their operations through innovation, driver training,
and the development of public awareness initiatives.
Awarded for their good practices in road safety
In the Leadership and Contribution to Road Safety Culture category, the following were recognized: Pernod
Ricard, for their work in preventing drunk driving, training
facilitators, and institutional strengthening; Diageo, for their awareness programs
and campaigns for the prevention of drunk driving; Santo Domingo Motors, for developing, together with the INTRANT, the Ministry of Education (MINERD), and Motor Crédito, the Youth in Transit program, which has strengthened road safety education among students and teachers; and Humano Seguros, for its initiatives in education, innovation, and the promotion of a culture of road safety prevention.

In the Road Safety Business Management category, the following were distinguished: Industrias San Miguel (ISM), for its comprehensive preventive management model based on technology and intelligent monitoring; Cervecería Nacional Dominicana, for its fleet management system and the Safe Delivery program; and Bepensa, for its driving school and continuous driver certification.
Likewise, Cementos Argos was recognized for the incorporation of technological solutions to
strengthen operational safety; United Petroleum, for its high safety standards in the
transport of fuels; and Domicem, for its safety programs for heavy transport and the
Saving Lives initiative, aimed at motorcyclists.
Also distinguished were CAEI (Consorcio Azucarero de Empresas Industriales), for its comprehensive road safety management system applied to its agricultural and industrial operations; Grupo Piñero, for integrating road safety into its awareness and prevention actions; and CEABA (Centro de Acopio Banilejo), for promoting the Ciudadano Modelo RD initiative, a training program in values, road education, and civic coexistence that promotes respect for traffic rules and strengthens the culture of prevention among employees, companies, and institutions in the southern region.
With the National Road Safety Award, INTRANT reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting public policies, strategic alliances, and technical tools that strengthen prevention, promote responsible road safety management in the business sector, and contribute to reducing traffic accidents, saving lives, and building safer, more sustainable, and inclusive mobility for all Dominicans.
