A lieutenant colonel of the Colombian Police was sent to prison for his alleged responsibility in the intimidation and sexual abuse of a young woman who aspired to join the institution, the Prosecutor’s Office reported this Tuesday.
According to the investigating entity, Camilo Villamil allegedly took advantage of his position as commander of District No. 2 Sabana, in the department of Cundinamarca (center), to harass a high school graduate assistant.
The evidence gathered indicates that the high-ranking officer pursued and made “indecent insinuations” to the victim for several days before the assault.

The events, apparently, reached their most critical point on December 8th when Villamil summoned the young woman to one of the accommodations in the Zipaquirá Police District, a town near Bogotá.
There, taking advantage of his position of command and the woman’s defenseless state, he sexually assaulted her.
The investigation, carried out with a differential and gender approach, also revealed that the officer threatened the victim with truncating her professional future if she reported him.
Before a prosecutor from the Cundinamarca section of the Prosecutor’s Office, the officer was charged with the crimes of aggravated violent carnal access and sexual harassment.
Despite the strength of the evidence, the defendant did not accept the charges.
