Santo Domingo.- At the request of the Public Ministry, the Third Collegiate Tribunal of the National District sentenced a lieutenant colonel of the National Police to 20 years in prison, found guilty of the homicide of a man during an incident that occurred on the morning of December 15, 2024, in the Los Ríos sector.
Officer Raúl Francisco Suriel Arias was found guilty of the voluntary manslaughter of Gregory Mena Montero, according to the court’s decision. During the trial, the Ministry Public was represented by litigating prosecutors Cynthia Bonetti and Carlenny Camilo, while the investigation was conducted by prosecutor Orlando Antonio Santos Ramírez, from the Department of Internal Affairs of the National District. According to the record, the incident occurred after the victim was accused by two citizens of having run over a motorcyclist on Nicolás de Ovando Avenue. Subsequently, upon allegedly ignoring a stop order issued by the now-convicted and other agents, he was pursued to La Fe street, in the Los Ríos sector, where he was forced to stop due to traffic congestion.Related News
