Buenos Aires.- Argentina’s ultraright-wing president, Javier Milei, stated this Thursday that he will seek reelection in the presidential elections that the South American country will hold in 2027.
“I am going to introduce myself. Not only am I going to finish this term, but I will apply for another if I believe I did things well. Then, the people will decide,” Milei said in an interview with the digital channel Neura.
The ultraliberal economist and leader of the far-right formation La Libertad Avanza, who assumed the Argentine Presidency in December 2023, defended his fiscal adjustment policy and downplayed the poor performance of economic activity last February, according to the latest official data released.
The scandal of his Chief of Staff
According to several recent polls, the negative image of the Head of State and the adverse opinion on the management of his Government have grown, among other things, from the scandal surrounding his chief of staff, Manuel Adorni, whose assets are being investigated by the Justice for the purchase of properties and luxury trips made with his family.
Milei, who supports Adorni in his position despite the growing scandal, said he will accompany Adorni to Parliament next Wednesday, when the Chief of Staff will deliver the government management report in the Chamber of Deputies.

“Manuel will give the corresponding answers. Justice is working calmly and all the steps are being followed. So we are very calm,” assured the Argentine president.
In addition to investigating Adorni’s travel and property expenses, the Justice Department is processing another complaint regarding the trip that the Chief of Staff’s wife, Bettina Angeletti, made to the United States last March on an official plane, as part of the presidential delegation.
This Thursday, federal prosecutor Alejandra Mángano asked Judge Daniel Rafecas to dismiss the criminal complaint for that trip due to the absence of a crime.
