Santo Domingo.– Johanna Fernández, mother of Jean André Pumarol Fernández, stated this Thursday that she respects the decision of the Second Chamber of the Criminal Court of Appeals of the National District, which revoked the dismissal order and ordered the opening of a trial against her son.
Upon leaving the hearing, Fernández stated that, although the decision does not favor them, the family trusts the justice system and hopes that the process will continue in accordance with due process.
“We are satisfied with the court’s decision and, in reality, we trusted in the Dominican justice system. Now it is time for the case to go to a full trial,” he/she expressed.
He indicated that it will be in that new stage where the parties will be able to present their evidence and that it will be up to the court to determine his son’s responsibility.

“We hope that due process is followed and that the judges finally decide what is appropriate in this case,” he maintained.
When asked if the decision gives them greater peace of mind, she replied that it represents the beginning of a new stage within the judicial process.
“We are beginning a process of tranquility, because a trial is just starting,” he stated.
