Santo Domingo, D.N. – The Secretary General of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Johnny Pujols, led the inauguration this Thursday of the 98th office out of the 119 that have been enabled nationwide, located in the Manganagua sector, in constituency number 1 of the National District.
The 24 de Abril A and B intermediate committees will operate in these facilities, as part of the strengthening of the party’s organizational structure. During the activity, the new presidents of the intermediate committees and base committees were sworn in.
The event was attended by Political Committee members Alejandro Montás, Miriam Cabral, Simón Lizardo, Maribel Acosta, Richard Medina, and Rubén Bichara; the president of constituency number 1, Ramón Rivas; the PLD deputy secretary-general, Marius de León; former deputy Jacqueline Ortiz; as well as members of the Central Committee, leaders, and militants.
During his speech, Pujols highlighted the historical value of the Manganagua premises and its opening as part of the organization’s strengthening process.
“This establishment is a tradition here, serving this community and maintaining the party’s presence in Manganagua. We feel happy and proud to be able to contribute to keeping it open,” he expressed.

The secretary general assured that the population has begun to recognize the PLD’s government work once again and urged the leadership to strengthen unity and political work.

“We must put the party and the people above any personal interest. Nothing is more important than the PLD and our commitment to serve the Dominican people,” he stated.
Likewise, he called on the militancy to participate in concentrated efforts, strengthen political training, and use social media to communicate the organization’s work and guide the citizenry.
Upon inaugurating the premises, he expressed his confidence that it will be a permanent space for political work.
“This location cannot be closed; it must be a living space, a PLD dwelling from where we plan the work that will allow us to take the yellow star, the PLD acronyms, and that color back to the National Palace in the year 2028,” he concluded.
At the end of the event, Pujols answered questions from the media. Regarding the Penal Code, he explained that the PLD deputies voted against the initiative being approved at that time, considering that the observations presented by different sectors should be evaluated.
“The deputies of our party voted against it being approved at that time, precisely because we understand that we must respect the citizenry, respect the unions, the institutions, and the professionals who made proposals. All those proposals had to be weighed, analyzed, and studied,” he stated.
Regarding the restriction on Dominican mango exports to the United States, he attributed the situation to the Government’s lack of foresight and the weakening of the technical agencies in the agricultural sector.

“That is essentially due to the Government’s inability, the lack of foresight, and, above all, the decision to fire and withdraw support from agricultural sector technicians, who are the ones who carry out epidemiological surveillance,” he stated.
Regarding the party’s internal process, he clarified that the PLD is conducting a citizen consultation, not internal elections, and explained that it will be carried out with a semi-open registry, in accordance with current legislation.
Finally, he sent a message to the Dominican people.
“To the Dominican people, we say that we will not leave you alone. This army of men and women that makes up the Dominican Liberation Party will be in the streets, shoulder to shoulder with the people, to return to power and build a better future for the Dominican Republic,” he concluded.
