Santo Domingo.– The player of the Dominican men’s softball team, Juan Miguel Arias, expressed his excitement and pride after winning the gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games, highlighting that the achievement is the result of years of sacrifice, discipline, and dedication.
Arias, known as “The Prototype”, recounted that he began his sports career in baseball, but it was softball that opened the doors for him to represent the Dominican Republic at the highest level.
“I really feel more than proud because we all did it for the flag and for our country, and for every fan who was supporting us”, the athlete expressed while remembering the championship victory.
The medalist also highlighted the public’s support throughout the competition, ensuring that the constant encouragement from the stands was an additional motivation for the team.
“Every time we stepped onto the field, we gave it our all. For us, there was no tomorrow, only the present. We had to win and keep fighting,” he stated.

Regarding the moment when the Dominican Republic secured a 5-1 victory against Venezuela to take home the gold medal, Arias confessed that he felt all the sacrifice had been worth it.
“It was worth the effort, it was worth every early morning we had to get up to struggle, with precariousness and all. Thank God, here is the result,” he stated.
The player dedicated the gold medal to God, his family, and the Dominican fans who supported the team throughout the tournament.
