“Kidnapping note claims Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother has died”

Washington.- A note sent to several media outlets and allegedly linked to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of the well-known American presenter Savannah Guthrie, claims that the 84-year-old woman has passed away.

The message, which would be the second statement attributed to the alleged kidnappers, indicates that Guthrie died shortly after being abducted and that her death was not intentional, as reported the day before by several local media outlets.

Previously, a first note had been received demanding a ransom of several million dollars.

The authorities believe that both communications could be authentic and sent by the kidnappers themselves.

CNN and a local Arizona state network, which also received the notes, agreed along with law enforcement and the family not to initially disclose the content so as not to compromise the potential verification of future communications.

Guthrie is the mother of the American NBC network presenter Savannah Guthrie.

The woman was last seen on Saturday, January 31, at her home in northern Tucson (Arizona), after having dinner with her eldest daughter. The family reported her missing a day later when she did not show up for church.

Authorities believe the woman was kidnapped, after traces of her blood were found near the entrance of her home. Subsequently, the FBI released surveillance videos in which a masked man could be seen on the porch of the residence that same night.

The family offered a one million dollar reward for information that would help find the woman, and warned that she suffered from health problems, while the FBI promised $100,000 for leads that would help locate Guthrie or capture those responsible for her disappearance.
