Kōzō Shioya, original voice of Majin Buu in Dragon Ball Z, passes away

Tokyo. – The renowned Japanese voice actor Kōzō Shioya, remembered worldwide for voicing the character Majin Buu in the series Dragon Ball Z, passed away at the age of 71 due to a cerebral hemorrhage, according to his agency Aoni Production.

The death occurred on January 20th, although the announcement was made days later out of respect for the privacy of his family. The funeral services were held privately. Shioya was an emblematic figure in the Japanese anime industry, with a career spanning over four decades and hundreds of productions. In the Dragon Ball franchise, in addition to Majin Buu, he also played the character Guldo, a member of the Ginyu Force. His vocal versatility allowed him to participate in other popular series such as One Piece, where he gave life to characters like Genzo, Pappag and Edward Weevil, as well as in Naruto, among many other projects.
