Chongqing, China. A landslide that occurred this Friday in the municipality of Chongqing, in central China, left several homes buried and forced authorities to preventively evacuate about 1,100 people, while search efforts for potential missing persons continue.
The landslide occurred around 9:08 a.m. (local time) in a residential area of Pengshui autonomous county, where a large amount of soil and rocks moved from a hillside, reaching the buildings located at the foot of the mountain.
According to state media reports, more than ten residential buildings were affected by the ground movement, which caused significant damage in the area.
Local authorities reported that emergency teams continue to carry out rescue and damage assessment efforts to determine the exact number of people who could be trapped or missing.
By the early afternoon hours, at least ten people had been rescued alive and, according to official reports, none had sustained serious injuries.
