Laura Fernández will assume the presidency of Costa Rica this May 8th for the period 2026-2030, becoming the second woman to hold the position in the country’s history. The ceremony, which will take place at the National Stadium of San José, will bring together delegations from 71 countries and 18 international organizations. Among the distinguished attendees are King Felipe VI of Spain and the presidents of Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Chile, Israel, and the Dominican Republic. Christopher Landau, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, will head the U.S. delegation and will hold meetings with the new president.
