Santo Domingo. – The president of the
party Fuerza del Pueblo and former president of the Republic, Leonel Fernández, continued this Tuesday his food delivery day to vulnerable sectors with the distribution of Christmas rations at the Casa del Pueblo Johnny Ventura, located in the Gascue sector, in the National District.
Upon starting the activity, Fernández addressed those present and the media covering the event, noting that this delivery is part of a tradition that takes place every year in favor of the poorest families in the country. He indicated that, while he was traveling to the place, he could observe an extensive line that extended for several streets to Simón Bolívar Avenue, which, in his opinion, shows the level of need that the population is going through.
“The year 2025 has been a horrible year for the Dominican Republic. There has been an economic slowdown that has generated a national paralysis. Poverty has increased, there is no money circulation, and the prices of essential goods have increased beyond the clouds,” expressed the political leader, describing the social and economic context that, according to him, generates despair and anguish in broad sectors of Dominican society.

Fernández maintained that this reality explains the high participation of people in this type of solidarity day, reiterating that the Fuerza del Pueblo maintains a permanent commitment to accompany the most vulnerable communities, especially on sensitive dates such as Christmas festivities.
This solidarity day continues the activities carried out yesterday, when Leonel Fernández led the delivery of food rations at the Hogar de Ancianas Nuestra Señora del Carmen, in Boca Chica, where he shared with elderly adults, as well as at the Association of People with Physical Motor Disabilities, Inc. (ASODIFIMO), in Santo Domingo Oeste, an institution that provides accompaniment and assistance to people with disabilities.
During the activity at the Johnny Ventura House of the People, Fernández was accompanied by the senator of the National District, Omar Fernández; the president of the Fuerza del Pueblo party in the National District, Rafael Paz; as well as the presidents of the different constituencies and other leaders of the political organization.
As part of the day’s agenda, the president of the Fuerza del Pueblo will travel in the afternoon to the province of Santiago, where he will make several deliveries of Christmas boxes in different communities and districts of the municipality, in coordination with the local party directorates and community organizations.
The day will conclude in the evening with a community dinner, where the traditional Christmas dinner will be shared with a family from Santiago. This practice is carried out every year on Christmas Eve and has taken place in different sectors of Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, the National District and other locations in the country. It is a tradition that Leonel Fernández started during his time as president of the Republic and that he has maintained uninterruptedly even outside the direction of the State, as an expression of closeness and social commitment.
