Santiago.- With the goal of reducing the economic impact that the return to school represents for hundreds of families, the Provincial Government of Santiago delivered this Tuesday backpacks fully equipped with school supplies to about 200 children from vulnerable sectors of the province.
Governor Rosa Santos explained that the initiative seeks to support parents in purchasing school supplies, highlighting that each backpack contains three 200-page notebooks, tablets, pencils, pens, and other quality items, with an approximate value of RD$1,200, which represents significant savings for families.
“With this delivery, we are helping parents so they do not have to bear the full cost of school supplies. What previously could represent an expense of up to RD$3,000 per student is now considerably reduced thanks to this contribution,” expressed the representative of the Executive Branch.
Santos indicated that the event was organized through the prior distribution of tickets to ensure that beneficiaries received their materials, although he assured that they also reserved additional kits to assist children who arrived without being previously registered.

In addition to the delivery of school supplies, the Governor’s Office prepared a welcoming space for attendees, offering refreshments to both the children and their parents, a tradition that, according to the official, is part of the social activities carried out by the institution, where some children performed songs prior to the delivery.
The initiative is part of the actions promoted by the Santiago Governor’s Office to support low-income families at the start of the school year and contribute to ensuring more students have the necessary tools for their educational development.
