Santo Domingo. The gardeners Junior Lake, Sócrates Brito and Mel Rojas Jr. lead the group of LIDOM players that will be available for the practice games against the Detroit Tigers, scheduled for March 3 and 4 at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium. The additional set includes catcher Pedro Severino and pitchers Enny Romero, Óscar de la Cruz, Phillips Valdez and Jimmy Cordero, who will be available to manager Albert Pujols as a complement to the national team preparing for the World Baseball Classic. The initiative responds to a request from the management headed by Nelson Cruz, taking into account the preparatory nature of these meetings. Participation in this scenario represents an important competitive showcase for the players, who will have the opportunity to show their talent to Major League organizations and strengthen their options within professional baseball. The called-up players expressed enthusiasm and pride in being part of this experience, which will allow the Santo Domingo public to see the national team in action against an MLB rival in Dominican territory.
