Luis Muñoz Marín Airport in Puerto Rico breaks passenger records in 2025

International travel showed an upturn

Puerto Rico.- A total of 13.6 million passengers transited through Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in 2025, an increase of 3% compared to 2024, when 13.2 million passengers arrived, marking a new record in the history of the airport.

This transcends data from Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR), the parent company of Aerostar, the private operator of the airport, through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). In a previous interview with this newspaper, Nelman Nevárez, Aerostar’s operations director, had anticipated that the expectation was to reach between 13.6 and 13.7 million passengers.

Out of this total, 11.9 million correspond to domestic trips, an increase of 1.8% compared to the 11.7 million in 2024. While 1.7 million were in international travel, a significant increase of 12%, compared to the 1.5 million of the previous year. In the case of December, the airport registered 1.34 million passengers, an increase of 4.6% compared to 2024, when 1.28 million passed through in the same month.
