San José de Ocoa.– The Collegiate Court of the Court of First Instance of the Judicial District of San José de Ocoa sentenced a man to six months in prison after he was found guilty of stealing 32 avocados from an agricultural farm located in this province.
The sentence was imposed on Juan Alcántara Martínez, known as “Último”, who must serve the penalty in the Baní public jail, according to the decision issued by judges Alfis Brandeli Castillo Castillo, Víctor G. Cuevas Cruz and David A. Santos Merán.
According to the file, the robbery occurred at the farm of agricultural entrepreneur Midiam Calderón, located on Duarte Street, in the sector known as “Vengan a Ver”, where he has been growing avocados since 1981.

Calderón asserted that the now-convicted individual had repeatedly caused him losses through the theft of produce from his property, which is why he requested that the authorities ensure justice was served.
With this ruling, the court accepted the evidence presented during the trial and established the criminal liability of Alcántara Martínez for the theft of the 32 avocados, imposing a sentence of six months of deprivation of liberty.
