Man who stabbed another to death in Santiago sentenced to 20 years in prison

Santiago.- A collegiate court of the judicial district of Santiago sentenced a man found guilty of killing another with a bladed weapon to 20 years in prison, in an event that occurred on December 13, 2021 in the community of Guayabal, municipal district of the municipality of Puñal. The sentence was imposed against Andy Misael Núñez, after the court accepted the request of the Public Ministry, which prosecuted him for the homicide of José Miguel González Rosario. During the trial, prosecutor Aida Medrano Gonell demonstrated, beyond a reasonable doubt, the criminal responsibility of the accused, supporting the accusation with material, documentary, expert, and testimonial evidence.

The investigations were led by prosecutor Cristina Ramírez, from the Department of Physical Violence (Homicides). As part of the evidence presented, the prosecuting body projected video material in which the now-convicted person is seen arriving on a motorcycle to Los Cholos street, in Guayabal, where the victim was sitting on the porch of a house, waiting for a person to do construction work. The images shown in court show how Nuñez enters the area and lunges at Gonzalez Rosario, giving him multiple stab wounds with a sharp weapon in different parts of the body. Although the victim was assisted after the assault, they died before reaching a health center, as established in the judicial process. The court that heard the case was composed of magistrates Deyanira Méndez, Kimberly Tatis, and Ingrid Liberato, who handed down the guilty verdict after assessing the evidence presented by the Santiago Prosecutor’s Office.
