Santo Domingo.– The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported that during its most recent interdiction operations, 1,008 foreigners in an irregular migratory status were detained, while 1,304 people were deported through the various border control posts, as part of the actions to strengthen migratory control in the country
The interventions were carried out in several sectors of Greater Santo Domingo and the National District, including Villa Mella, Cristo Rey, Herrera, and Villa Faro, as well as other provinces where authorities reinforced migration control efforts.
According to the institution, 761 of the detainees were arrested by the Rapid Reaction Agents (ARR) of the DGM, while 247 were handed over by State security and defense agencies that collaborate in these operations.
Regarding the provinces with the highest number of arrests, Santo Domingo topped the list with 112 people, followed by Independencia (93), Pedernales (75), La Altagracia (50), Santiago (49), and Elías Piña (46). Operations were also reported in La Vega, Valverde, Barahona, Dajabón, San Juan, Santiago Rodríguez, Puerto Plata, La Romana, Bahoruco, Peravia, Samaná, and Azua.
In the Valverde province, authorities carried out simultaneous interventions in communities such as Maizal, El Bombillo, El Puente, Esperanza, Boca de Mao, and La Compuerta, with the joint participation of immigration agents, police, and military personnel.

The DGM indicated that the 1,304 deportations were carried out by the border control posts of Elías Piña (721 people), Dajabón (271), Jimaní (216), and Pedernales (96), following the procedures established in the General Migration Law.
The entity explained that these operations are part of the permanent actions it carries out to strengthen migration control, support national security, and ensure compliance with current migration legislation.
