More than 50 institutions support the continuation of magistrate Yermenos Forastieri in the TSE

Santo Domingo.- A total of 49 institutions and personalities from the legal, academic, social, and religious fields have formally expressed their support for magistrate Pedro P. Yermenos Forastieri to continue as a judge of the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE), nominating him before the National Council of the Magistracy (CNM) for a new term. The signatories highlight the professional and personal qualities of magistrate Yermenos Forastieri, emphasizing his academic background, integrity, responsibility, ethical sense, and commitment to democracy and institutions. In their communications to the CNM, the proponents emphasize that the magistrate’s performance during the last four years has been “exemplary and a great contribution to the strengthening of electoral justice”, which is why they believe that his re-election would “give continuity to the excellence and accumulated experience” in the TSE. Among the institutions that support its permanence are the Institutionalism and Justice Foundation, Inc. (FINJUS), the Juan XXIII Center, the Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations (UNIORE), the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights (IIDH/CAPEL), the Faculty of Juridical and Political Sciences of the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), the Testimonio Foundation, the Museum of Dignity, Inc., and the Senatorial Office of the Hermanas Mirabal province. Also joining are the Dominican Republic Bar Association (CARD), in its sections of Santiago, Puerto Plata, La Vega, María Trinidad Sánchez and Monseñor Nouel, as well as the UASD Lawyers Promotion 1980-1986, the Grand Lodge of the Dominican Republic, Inc., and the National Council of Evangelical Pastors Confraternities (CONACOPE).

The support extends to various foundations and community organizations, including FUNPREL, FUNDEMUJAR, FUNVICJA, Elías Piña Existe, Santo Domingo en Marcha, Serie 110, Smart Vision Educational Coaching, the Dominican Association of Bailiffs, and multiple neighborhood associations from sectors such as Simón Bolívar, Sabana Perdida, and Piedra Blanca del Salto. Likewise, the Pantoja Sports and Cultural Center, the Los Cachorros and Huellas del Siglo clubs, and the Wado-Kai Karate Organization JKF Guseikai Rep. Dom. (OKAWAGUKAIRD), among others, expressed their support. Finally, a group of renowned figures from the academic and professional fields also endorsed their support, including Dr. Marcos Francisco Massó Garrote, professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Castilla La Mancha; Dr. Juan Francisco Puello Herrera; Dr. Héctor Eduardo Alíes Rivas; Dr. Felicia Andrea Díaz Pérez, psychiatrist; and Dr. Jesús Santos, family doctor. The signatories agree that magistrate Yermenos Forastieri has shown a “firm commitment to justice, transparency, and the defense of democratic values”, reasons for which they believe that his continuity in the TSE would strengthen the institutional functioning of the court and the Dominican electoral system.
