Santo Domingo. – The young mother Erika Paola Montero, 29 years old, went this Monday to the facilities of De Último Minuto to make an urgent call for help, after her son Eric Juan Montero, just six years old, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer with high-risk cells. With a choked voice, Montero explained that his son is currently receiving palliative chemotherapy at the Rosa Emilia Sánchez Pérez de Tavares National Cancer Institute (INCART), because he does not have the financial resources necessary to access the specialized treatment that the minor requires. The mother detailed that the appropriate medical procedure should be performed in a specialized center in Spain, specifically at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, located in Barcelona. According to the budget issued by said medical center, the cost of the treatment amounts to 754,315 euros, a sum that the family cannot cover by their own means.
