Motorcyclist dies after being run over by a truck and crushed in the head in Santiago

Santiago.- A young motorcyclist died this Tuesday afternoon after being run over by a truck and crushed on the head, in a traffic accident that occurred near the Yaque lodging, on the Circunvalación Sur avenue of this city.

The victim was identified as Tiras Pie, 23 years old and of Haitian nationality, who died at the scene due to the severity of the injuries sustained after the impact with the heavy vehicle. According to preliminary information, the incident occurred when the young man was trying to cross the road on a CG 2000 motorcycle, black in color, accompanied by a woman who was traveling as a passenger. The companion was seriously injured and was taken to a health center, where she is receiving medical attention. Her condition is unknown at this time. The deceased resided in the Ceibita sector of Beijing, in the southern zone of Santiago, and belonged to the 26th stop of motoconcho drivers in that locality.

Following the event, dozens of onlookers and motorcyclists went to the scene to try to identify the victim, while expressing sorrow for what happened. The truck driver, whose identity has not been revealed, was arrested by National Police officers for investigation purposes. The vehicle involved belongs to the company Cilpen Global, dedicated to solid waste management. Members of the National Police and the General Directorate of Traffic and Ground Transportation Safety (Digesett) showed up at the scene, who facilitated traffic and carried out the corresponding survey. The young man’s body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) in Santiago for the necessary procedures.
