La Vega, D.R. – Members of the Regional Sub-directorate of Investigations (DICRIM), in coordination with the Preventive Police, arrested two Haitian nationals during preventive operations carried out in different sectors of this province, seizing two homemade firearms (chilenas) capable of firing.
In an initial intervention, Andy Jeraldo Santo, of legal age, was arrested after being intercepted at the entrance of the Sabana Rey community. During the search, officers seized a homemade firearm, known as a “chilena,” with one cartridge inside and an additional cartridge.
In a second intervention, Yeison Fuayilis, 25, was arrested during an operation carried out in the Las Yayas sector, in the Rancho Abajo community. At the time of his arrest, another homemade weapon, a “chilena” type, was seized from him, along with a .357 caliber cartridge suitable for it, as well as a cell phone.
Both detainees, along with the seized evidence, will be placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for alleged violation of Law 631-16 on the Control and Regulation of Weapons, Ammunition, and Related Materials.
