Santo Domingo.- The National Police held a meeting with community leaders and representatives of civil society in the Colonial Zone to present the progress of the new police service model, listen to concerns regarding security, and strengthen trust between the institution and the citizenry.
The event, held in the Rigoberto Llano hall of the San Lázaro Club, is part of the strategy promoted by the Government to strengthen citizen security through the implementation of police reform and a management model closer to the community.
The meeting was led by the director of Police Transformation, General Francisco A. Pimentel, accompanied by Colonel Obispo Cabral, regional director of Politur for Santo Domingo; Lieutenant Colonel Zapata, commander of Operations, and other officers of the institution.
Representatives from various neighborhood associations and community organizations participated in the activity, including William García, president of the Santa Bárbara Neighborhood Association; Rosa Cáceres; Wilson López, from the San Antón sector; Albert Castillo; Lidia Rodríguez, from the Plaza María de Toledo; Carlos Báez, representative of the Mercado Modelo merchants; Dimitri Mendoza, president of the San Lázaro Club, and community leader Giselle Capellán, who presented proposals and concerns related to security and coexistence in their communities.

During the meeting, the main guidelines of the new police service model were presented, conceived to offer more professional, organized, and citizen-focused attention.

Upon intervening, General Francisco A. Pimentel explained that the transformation process began in four pilot zones and will be implemented gradually throughout the national territory, as part of the institutional strengthening being developed by the National Police.
Likewise, he highlighted that the active participation of community leaders constitutes an essential element for identifying the needs of each sector, promoting joint solutions, and strengthening the relationship of trust between the institution and the citizenry.
At the end of the day, community representatives valued the initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate with the National Police in the implementation of the new service model, with the purpose of continuing to strengthen security and peaceful coexistence in their communities.
