Santo Domingo.- The National Police carried out a training session aimed at some 40 preventive agents, with the aim of strengthening their capacities in the protection of the crime scene and the proper handling of evidence, as part of the actions aimed at improving investigative work.
The training was given by Sergeant Major Leyvi Marco Ozuna, who developed theoretical and practical content on the protocols for preserving the crime scene, the correct collection of evidence, and the importance of avoiding any type of contamination that may affect the chain of custody within the judicial process.
During the training, emphasis was placed on updating the agents’ performance criteria in the field, in order to optimize their intervention in critical situations and guarantee more precise, professional procedures that comply with current regulations.
The activity was attended by police authorities, including the central director of Prevention, General Martín Miguel Tapia Sánchez; the deputy director of Prevention, Colonel Braulio Ramírez; Colonel Medina Lantigua, in charge of Field Statistics, and Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Tavárez, who supported the initiative as part of institutional strengthening.
Also participated the executive commissioner for Police Reform, retired general Luis Ernesto García Hernández, of the Colombian Police, who offered guidance focused on the role of the first responder, timely decision-making, and strict adherence to established protocols.
Authorities highlighted the importance of the preventive agent in preserving the crime scene, noting that their correct intervention helps maintain the integrity of the evidence and is key to clarifying the facts.
The National Police indicated that this type of training is part of an ongoing program aimed at improving the quality of service, professionalizing personnel, and strengthening the efficiency of investigative processes for the benefit of citizens.
