A group of activists from the Nepalese Generation Z attempted to enter Singha Durbar, the administrative headquarters of the Government of Nepal, this Tuesday to try to meet with the interim Prime Minister of this country, Sushila Karki, who is facing protests for alleged nepotism in her appointments.
The Superintendent of Police of Kathmandu District, Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, told EFE that about sixty young people tried to access the restricted area violating security regulations, but the officers blocked their way without making any arrests.
The unrest comes just two months after the protests that caused more than 70 deaths in the country and brought down the previous government, when hundreds of young people filled the streets of the main cities to denounce nepotism and the dominance of the elites in Nepali politics.

The Gen Z Front, one of the groups that make up the movement known as Generation Z, specifically requested the immediate dismissal of the Prime Minister’s personal secretary, Adarsh Shrestha, for allegedly promoting his wife for a public office.
“Transparency and accountability are our main demands. Adarsh Shrestha must be removed immediately, and the appointments he made while fostering nepotism and favoritism must be revoked,” said Rakshya Bam, one of the Generation Z leaders, on her social media.
Last week, Nepal imposed a curfew in a southern area of Nepal after several clashes between Generation Z activists and the Police.
The limitations occurred after Generation Z protesters demanded last Thursday the arrest of supporters of the former ruling party, the Marxist-Leninist, allegedly involved in clashes between activists and communists.
Nepal is currently governed by an interim administration led by Sushila Karki, the first woman to hold this position in the country’s history, who was appointed head of the interim government with the support of part of the Generation Z movement itself.
In his appointment, following the forced resignation of the then Prime Minister, the Marxist-Leninist KP Sharma Oli, he promised to combat corruption and lead Nepal to new elections by March 2026.
