Disney confirmed the production of Deano, a new animated series aimed at an adult audience by the creator of Bluey, Joe Brumm. The project will mark a significant turn in the career of the Australian animator, moving away from the family style that defined the popular children’s series. Unlike his previous works, Deano will feature human characters and will be set in a more realistic and raw suburban environment. The story revolves around an eight-year-old boy, mischievous and charismatic, who, despite growing up in difficult circumstances, maintains an optimistic and unwavering attitude. The series will explore Deano’s friendship with his best friend Kit, a boy from a wealthy family, which will allow contrasting different social realities and highlight themes of empathy, courage, and understanding.
