In Nicaragua, the official inauguration of the Héroes de las Segovias Hospital took place this Sunday, a modern health care center in the municipality of Ocotal (department of Nueva Segovia), in the south of the country.

“A mega-project that adds to the health victories of the Nicaraguan people”, stated the Ministry of Health.

The event was attended by members of the Sandinista Youth 19th of July, who led a festive march to their facilities.

“We celebrate this new triumph of life, health, and hope. This hospital is a victory of the people and the youth,” expressed María José Marín Lanuza, coordinator of the movement in Nueva Segovia.

The hospital, located in a construction area of 25,000 square meters, is distributed in seven buildings and houses a total of 236 beds and includes different specialized areas for the comprehensive care of the patient. It also has five operating rooms and state-of-the-art equipment, such as a tomograph, mobile X-rays, gastroscopy towers, among other equipment, detailed the Ministry of Health in August, once the construction works were completed.

It also offers emergency services, outpatient consultation, hospitalization, and advanced assistance, such as oncology, nephrology, and rehabilitation. Its implementation, for about a month, has generated hundreds of direct jobs and will significantly help to decongest other hospitals in the country.
