The Health Minister stated that the purchasing and distribution processes will continue to be streamlined to increase the availability of these devices and strengthen timely detection, thus contributing to saving lives. “This is the first of six teams that will be distributed in hospitals across the country. With this action we continue to strengthen the health system and support the technical and specialized work in the area of transplants,” he expressed. During the event, the director of INCORT, Dr. José Juan Castillos Almonte, highlighted that this first team is fundamental for the confirmation of the diagnosis of brain death, an indispensable requirement in the processes of organ donation. “This equipment allows for a more transparent and reliable diagnosis, since it is not based solely on clinical criteria, but is recorded and documented for any future verification,” he indicated. The devices have built-in computers that allow recording and storing the studies carried out, which strengthens the transparency of the process and generates greater trust in the population. According to the technical specifications, the equipment weighs approximately between 1 and 3 kilograms and uses probes compatible with transducers of different frequencies, ranging from 2 to 16 MHz, depending on the clinical application required.With this acquisition, the Ministry of Health continues to advance in the modernization of medical equipment and the strengthening of the diagnostic capacity of the national hospital system.
