Guayabal, Azua.– The nursing staff of the Guayabal municipal hospital stopped their work this Wednesday demanding salary improvements, payment of overdue incentives and better working conditions, which caused partial delays in patient care at that health center.
During the protest, nurses denounced that since 2015, they have not been paid the corresponding amount for time in service and distance, benefits that they claim are part of their acquired rights. They explained that this situation has generated discomfort among the workers in the area.
They also demanded that pensions be granted with 100% of the salary, considering that many health workers end their years of work without fair compensation.
Among other demands, they also requested the reclassification of positions, alleging that there are currently licensed nurses who continue to earn salaries corresponding to assistant positions, despite having the academic preparation and functions of their professional level.
The protesters stated that the paralysis seeks to draw the attention of the authorities so that a dialogue process is initiated and their historical claims are addressed.

On her part, Jesusa Cuello, known as “Chucha”, called on the National Health Service to urgently intervene and offer concrete answers to the nursing staff of Guayabal.
As of yet, no official position has been reported by the health authorities regarding the protest held in this municipality of Azua province.
