Santiago.- The pressure exerted by the intelligence and investigative work of the National Police led to the voluntary surrender of one of the alleged perpetrators of the assault committed against a citizen in the San Lorenzo sector, in the Santiago Oeste municipal district, an incident that was recorded on video and went viral on social media.
The man appeared at the office of General Juan Bautista Jiménez Reinoso Tejada, director of the Cibao Central region, accompanied by his mother and a communicator from this city, where he was taken into custody to be investigated for his alleged participation in the robbery.
During the investigative process, the agents identified the two alleged perpetrators of the act and located the motorcycle used to commit the assault, a black Gato CG 200, without a license plate, which was abandoned in the La Cacata sector, in West Santiago.

According to investigations, the assailants abandoned the vehicle after committing the robbery, which was subsequently seized by the authorities as key evidence in the case.
The National Police reported that the suspect’s surrender was the result of ongoing monitoring by investigation and intelligence teams, while assuring that operations continue to locate and arrest the second individual involved.

The detainee will be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding legal purposes, while the authorities deepen the investigations to fully clarify the case.
