Santo Domingo.– The coordinating judge of the National District Instruction Courts, Kenya Romero, designated by lottery Magistrate Deiby Timoteo Peguero, of the Seventh Instruction Court, to preside over the preliminary hearing of the case file corresponding to Operation Lobo.
With this assignment, the judge must set the date on which the Public Prosecutor’s Office’s request for the 14 defendants to be sent to trial for their alleged participation in a corruption network will be heard.
According to the indictment, military personnel and civilians allegedly received more than RD$108 million in bribes from private security companies in exchange for favoring the awarding and continuation of surveillance contracts in various state institutions.
The file indicates that the irregularities were allegedly recorded in entities such as the National Comprehensive Security Service (Senase), the electricity distribution companies EdeSur, EdeEste, and EdeNorte, as well as the National Institute for Comprehensive Early Childhood Care (Inaipi), among other public agencies.
