Bogotá.– The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, began this Tuesday the last month of his term amidst a growing confrontation with the president-elect, Abelardo de la Espriella, whose victory in the elections of last June 21 he continues to not recognize.
The outgoing president maintains that the election results were the product of fraud, although he has not yet presented evidence to support that claim.
In a post on his X social media account, Petro asserted that the true winner of the election was the left-wing candidate Iván Cepeda. Furthermore, he claimed that De la Espriella’s victory was achieved through algorithms developed by private intelligence companies based in California and Israel.

The ruler’s stance has increased political tension in the country and coincides with the suspension of transition talks between the outgoing government and the incoming administration.
Abelardo de la Espriella plans to assume the Presidency of Colombia on August 7, amidst an environment marked by differences between both political sectors and the allegations made by the outgoing president.
