Santo Domingo.- The National Police, Intrant, and various security institutions have launched a joint operation in Greater Santo Domingo and other areas of the country to strengthen road safety, prevent criminal acts, and ensure compliance with traffic laws.
The operation includes the participation of DIGESETT, the General Directorate of Migration, and Intrant inspection personnel, who will carry out inspections of documents, driver’s licenses, mandatory insurance, use of protective helmets, and other road safety measures.
In addition to traffic controls, authorities reported that the operation includes preventive actions to detect illegal weapons, narcotic substances, vehicles with identification irregularities, and individuals wanted by the justice system.

The Director General of the National Police, Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, highlighted that inter-institutional coordination seeks to strengthen citizen security, preserve lives, and promote respect for the rules. Meanwhile, the Director of Traffic and Road Safety of Intrant, Joel Manuel Gneco Gross, explained that the legal status of foreign drivers and compliance with current regulations will also be verified.
The first operations were carried out on Coronel Rafael Tomás Fernández Domínguez, Hipódromo, and Marginal de Las Américas avenues, in Santo Domingo East.

The authorities indicated that these actions will be progressively extended to different provinces of the country, prioritizing areas with higher levels of non-compliance with traffic regulations and factors that affect citizen security.
