Santo Domingo.- The Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) extended the term of its new national authorities from two to four years, meaning those elected this Sunday will remain in their positions until 2030, as reported by Sigmund Freund at the conclusion of the National Assembly of Delegates.
The modification was approved during the party’s XXV Extraordinary National Convention, held prior to the assembly, and establishes that national positions will have the ordinary four-year term contemplated in the PRM statutes.
Freund explained that the provision contemplating a two-year period, from 2026 to 2028, will only apply to territorial bodies and overseas constituencies. Consequently, the national authorities elected this Sunday will serve their terms from 2026 to 2030.
“The most important thing is that it was approved that the national positions, that is, those that were elected today, have been elected for four years,” explained Freund before proceeding to officially announce the list of the organization’s new authorities.
During the extraordinary convention, the statutes were also amended to increase the party’s vice-presidencies from three to five, as well as the deputy general secretariats from three to five.
