Boca Chica. – Residents of the Invi CEA, Respaldo María Estela, Mi Hogar del Este, Las Mercedes, and the North Margin sectors of the Boca Chica municipality held a protest this Wednesday to reject the way the expansion of the Ecological Avenue is being carried out.
The community members denounced that the current design of the project blocks access to the marginal of Las Américas and Fausto Cruz street, which directly affects the mobility of hundreds of families.
According to the protesters, the work, as it is being built, eliminates the vehicular return at the point where the expansion concludes, forcing drivers to travel to La Caleta to be able to return. This situation represents a serious detriment to residents, merchants, and transporters from the entire north margin.
Despite having met with a vice minister of Public Works, the residents claim that their demands have not been heard.
They demand the construction of at least motorcycle-pedestrian bridges and the non-closure of the Las Américas marginal, warning that the closure would force returns outside the municipality even to access the Municipal Hospital and essential commercial establishments.
Finally, the protesters warned that, if necessary, they will take their fight to the National Palace, so that the President of the Republic directly hears their demands and a consensual solution that does not affect the communities is sought.
