Mexico City.- Around 60 activists and members of the Iranian community set fire this Saturday to a figure alluding to the ancient Semitic god Baal near the U.S. embassy in Mexico to demand, among prayers, an end to the war in the Middle East.
Among cardboard figures of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, the protesters gathered from 11:00 local time (18:00 GMT) at the Miguel Hidalgo town hall, in Mexico City, to “repudiate the illegal war” led by Israel and the United States against the Islamic Republic, as their signs indicated.
Since this protest was called, the organizers, mostly Iranians, warned about the burning of the Semitic god Baal, as has happened in protests in Tehran, the capital of Iran, as a political symbol against Israel.
The Iranian community in Mexico took advantage of this mobilization to repudiate the death of the Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who died on Saturday, February 28, in the American and Israeli bombings against the Islamic republic.
Repudiation of American and Israeli leaders
The protesters raised photographs of the spiritual leader of that nation, who was in charge for almost 37 years, since he was appointed in 1989, during which time he always kept the “enemies” of the nation, mainly the United States, in his sights.
At the time this protest is happening at the US chancellery in Mexico, Netanyahu maintained that Israel will continue its offensive against Iran “with all its force,” a position with which Trump agreed this Saturday in Miami.
Following the death of Jameneí, Mexico has shown a positive stance compared to countries like Spain, which have refused to authorize the use of the Morón and Rota bases for military operations by the U.S. and Israel against Tehran.
Amidst flags of Israel, Iran, the United States, and Mexico, the demonstration concluded peacefully after having dedicated hours of prayer for peace in the Middle East.
