Santo Domingo.– The Public Ministry requested pretrial detention against Jhonny González, identified as the person responsible for chasing and wounding Gustavo Adolfo III Mejía-Ricart Risk with a bladed weapon during an alleged attempted robbery that occurred in the Serrallés sector, National District.
The request for a coercive measure will be heard this Friday, September 18, by the Judicial Office of Permanent Care Services of the National District. The prosecuting body granted the case the provisional legal classification of attempted homicide and aggravated robbery, in addition to violations of Law 631-16 on the Control and Regulation of Weapons, Ammunition, and Related Materials.
According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office investigation, the incident occurred during the early hours of last September 12, when Mejía-Ricart Risk was arriving at his residence and was allegedly intercepted by González, who was traveling on a motorcycle.
According to the authorities’ version, the accused allegedly demanded that the victim hand over their belongings.

The young man managed to enter the lobby of the tower where he resides, but González allegedly chased him inside and inflicted multiple knife wounds on him. Part of the attack was recorded by security cameras and the footage subsequently circulated on social media.
Due to his injuries, Mejía-Ricart Risk was taken to a health center, where he remained admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
During the incident, Augusto González Rodríguez, the tower’s security manager, was also injured after allegedly attempting to intervene upon hearing the screams. Following the assault, the suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle.

Cameras allowed tracking the suspect
As part of the investigations, the authorities analyzed recordings from various security cameras, through which they claim to have reconstructed the suspect’s escape route to a residence located in Capotillo.
The Public Ministry reported that during a raid carried out on September 14, a knife, clothing, a ski mask, and other items allegedly related to the incident were seized. The motorcycle that was reportedly used during the attack was also recovered.
González was arrested on Tuesday, September 15, by court order, during an operation carried out on La 42 Street, in Capotillo, in the National District.
The hearing to consider the request for pretrial detention has been set for this Friday, September 18.
