Santo Domingo Oeste. – The Public Ministry requested the imposition of preventive detention as a coercive measure against Raudy Edirssy Mercedes, accused of physically assaulting his ex-partner in an incident that occurred on May 2nd in this municipality.
According to the file, the defendant was arrested on June 3, 2026, on Tercera Street in the Reparto Rosa sector, in compliance with a judicial order issued after the start of the investigations.
According to the request for a coercive measure, the incident occurred around 10:30 in the morning, when Mercedes appeared at the victim’s residence. Once inside the home, he allegedly assaulted her physically, slapping her in the face and pulling her by one of her arms.
The victim called for help and, while neighbors were preparing to contact the authorities, the accused left the scene. Subsequently, the Public Prosecutor’s Office obtained arrest warrant No. 2026-0143066, which was executed days later.

The investigations are carried out by the Unit for the Prevention and Prosecution of Gender-Based, Domestic, and Sexual Violence of the Santo Domingo Oeste Prosecutor’s Office, in coordination with the National Directorate against Gender-Based Violence.

In the motion filed before the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Santo Domingo West, the prosecuting body requested to schedule the hearing for the consideration of the coercive measure.
The file includes testimonial, documentary, and expert evidence, as well as forensic reports that support the accusation for the alleged violation of articles 309-2 and 309-3, literals A and E, of the Dominican Penal Code, related to gender and domestic violence.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office argued that pretrial detention is necessary due to the severity of the alleged acts, the protection of the victim, and the risk of flight, considering that the accused does not have sufficient ties to guarantee their appearance during the judicial process.
