“Qatar confirms progress in Doha talks between the United States and Iran”

International Desk.- Mediators from Qatar and Pakistan met separately this Wednesday in Doha with delegations from the United States and Iran, as part of indirect technical talks regarding the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between both countries following the conflict that began at the end of February.

The spokesperson for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Majed Al Ansari, stated on X that positive progress was recorded “on issues related to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding,” based on what was discussed at the Lake Lucerne Summit in Switzerland.

Also, he added that the parties agreed to continue the talks, with a next meeting to be set “at the earliest possible moment” after the conclusion of the funerals of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the former supreme leader of Iran.

The delegations did not meet directly with each other, as the mediators convey the messages between both parties.

The Memorandum of Understanding, negotiated with the mediation of Pakistan, entered into force on June 18 after being electronically signed by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his American counterpart, Donald Trump.
