Santo Domingo. – This Sunday, residents of the municipal district La Cuaba, of the municipality of Pedro Brand, carried out a large mobilization to show their opposition to the project of a sanitary landfill that is intended to be installed in the place El Aguacate. The community took to the streets dressed in white and with signs in hand, proclaiming slogans such as “No landfill”, while warning that the initiative could become a source of contamination for the area. The participants assured that this is just the first of several actions they will undertake to prevent the work from being carried out. The day was joined by residents from different sectors of La Cuaba, who had the support of the municipal director, Carlos Montaño. He asked President Luis Abinader to pay attention to the feelings of the residents and consider the impact that the project would have on the community.
