The U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has provided his assessment of the talks with the Ukrainian side that took place this Sunday in Geneva.

“They were very positive! I assure you, today was the most productive day we’ve had,” he told the press. In addition, he commented on how the American side is trying to mediate in the conflict.

“We started from the beginning of this process with our understanding of the Russian position, as it had been communicated to us in various ways,” he stated.

“So, regardless of what we have agreed today, it’s obvious that we now have to accept what we have agreed if we want to reach that agreement with the Ukrainian and Russian sides. That’s another part of this equation. They have to agree to this for it to work,” he explained. “Today has been the best day we’ve had in the 10 months we’ve been working on these issues,” Rubio reiterated. In addition, he specified that certain modifications have been added to President Donald Trump’s peace plan, without detailing what kind.
