Santo Domingo.– The National Health Service (SNS) reported that during the year 2025, 629,173 surgeries were performed in the centers of the Public Network, which represents an increase of 34.3% compared to the 468,629 surgical procedures registered in 2024.
Among the specialties with the highest demand for services, general surgery stands out, with 118,242 procedures, dentistry, with 18,0302, and orthopedics, with 76,818 interventions, evidencing the direct impact of these areas on the comprehensive care of patients.
The head of the
SNS, doctor Julio Landrón, highlighted that this important achievement has been possible thanks to the modernization and strengthening of hospital centers, the habilitation of new surgical areas, the expansion of operating rooms equipped with modern technology and the arduous work of medical personnel, especially surgeons and health teams that provide services in the hospitals of the Public Network.
These actions have significantly contributed to the improvement of patient survival and quality of life, which reaffirms the NHS’s commitment to strengthening the public health system and equitable access to quality surgical services.
