The Star Wars and Marvel universes will meet for the first time officially in a crossover event that will bring together characters from both franchises.
Titled Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles, the limited series will consist of five issues and will begin publication in January 2027, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
The project will be set in Earth-616, the main continuity of Marvel comics.
In this reality, characters from Star Wars such as Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Chewbacca will appear, sharing the stage with Marvel figures like Captain America, Black Widow, Spider-Man, and Hulk.
On the antagonists’ side, Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire will encounter characters such as Doctor Doom, Thanos, and other members of Marvel’s gallery of villains.

The launch will coincide with the 50th anniversary of Star Wars, a franchise created by George Lucas and originally presented in 1977 with the film that later became known as Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope.
The story of the new comic will start precisely from the events of that first movie.

Kevin Smith, actor, director, and screenwriter who has previously worked on comics for characters such as Daredevil, Batman, and Green Arrow, will be in charge of the script. David Marquez, known for his work on titles such as Uncanny X-Men and Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man, will be responsible for the art.

According to the series’ premise, a reality-altering event will allow the heroes of Earth-616 to witness the events of A New Hope as they occur on Earth.
From that encounter on, the characters from both universes will be involved in the same story.
‘Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles’ will tell an alternative story where both worlds come together.
Smith explained that during his childhood and adolescence he had a subscription to the Star Wars comics published by Marvel and that he then imagined the possibility of Marvel characters appearing in the stories of the galactic saga.
The opportunity to develop that concept arrived decades later with Hope Assembles, a project he will write for the franchise’s anniversary.
Michael Siglain, creative director of Lucasfilm Publishing, pointed out that the series seeks to bring together heroes and villains from both properties within the same continuity.
For his part, C.B. Cebulski, who will step down as editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics, indicated that the company had contemplated a crossover of this nature since it regained the publishing license for Star Wars more than a decade ago.

The second, third, and fourth copies will arrive in the following months, while the fifth and final issue is scheduled for May of that same year.
The project joins other franchise crossovers recently developed by Marvel. The company initiated a new line of encounters with DC Comics characters, including Batman/Deadpool and Superman/Spider-Man.
Characters such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Deadpool, Daredevil, Hawkeye, Human Torch, Wolverine, Professor X, Black Panther, R2-D2, and C-3PO also appear.
The publication of Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles will take place during 2027, the year in which Star Wars will celebrate five decades since the premiere of the film that started the franchise.
